Erik Whaley

Coming from a military background, Erik Whaley has lived in various areas across the United States. Graduating with a bachelor's degree in Finance from North Carolina Central University, Erik has always had a passion for the game of basketball. While attending North Carolina Central University Erik was a player and coach for his respective intramural and school club team. From the sidelines and on the court Erik led his intramural team to championships 2 out of the 4 years he attended. During his sophmore and junior year Erik interned for the athletic department at NCCU under former Assistant Athletic Director Willie Jude, assisting him in helping North Carolina Central transition from Divsion 2 to Divison 1.

 

Coach Whaley also learned under the tutelage of Coach Edward Addie, a very well respected and accomplished mind within the AAU basketball circuit. As a player under Addie, Erik helped lead his team to a Final Four finish at AAU Nationals and multiple top 5 finishes at some of the premier tournaments accross the country.

 

In high school, Coach Whaley was a 3 year starter at Mallard Creek High School, leading the school to a 2nd round playoff game in its first year of competition, losing to eventual state champions Mt. Tabor.

 

In coaching and training, Coach Whaley describes himself as very energetic  which derives from his passion and love for the game. These qualities combined with his knowledge and his constant urge to learn more about the game makes him one of the best skills coach and trainer in the state. His uniqe ability to be able to reach players in his generation allows him to maximize the potential of any athlete.
